2011-05-27 00:48:00 | The timer is a nice touch when scanning. It didn't remove my logins either in Chrome etc which is what I was hoping for when I didn't tick "Saved Passwords". You need a "Tick All" box under the "Optimization", but I love the "getting information from the cloud" feature to recommend what should stay and what should go! When rating an application and earning a Badge, you should give a brief overview of why I would want to register, what's special about the badges, how I can get more etc. The HiJack Log is nifty too. Would be nice to be prompted about updates during install-time, perhaps even just with a tickbox or something to say "Periodically check for updates", or "Check for updates on startup". Sometimes the environments I use this in, it'd be easier to not have it trying to check for updates, and easiest for me if that was set during install-time :) Will give the other apps a shot later on, but so far, first impressions are good! EDIT: Damn, I lie, I restarted Chrome (I ignored the warnings when I told it to clean it) and it nuked the likes of my saved PressF1 password. That sucks. Another option to leave cookies for websites that you're logged into? Its kept my Google account logged in though when I check that at market.android.com ...

2011-05-27 01:09:00 | Also, the cache compacting doesn't seem quite 100% in Chrome, it seems to have buggered up a few things, pages don't render properly ... Had to fully empty the cache and things came right immediately. | Chilling_Silence (9) | |
2011-05-27 03:35:00 | @nedkelly: awesome nedkelly! Glad to hear it. @chilling_silence: where were you when we were beta testing? :) no seriously, where were you? Thanks for the amazing feedback, the good news is, we can dig into this ASAP and since it's cloud based, push out a fix to. <- you probably knew that. Do you mind sharing the exact details of the chrome version you're running so we can look into it? And may I PM you if we need anything else? Also, I'm sending your whole post to engineering team. Some of your ideas are being worked on, and I'd like some time to go over in detail. It's late here, and I want to hit the office early! :) If you guys like to beta, we could use some aces: www.slimwareutilities.com Amazing, Thanks again guys! Chris

2011-05-27 03:40:00 | I have downloaded Slimware and found my cookies removed but I was expecting this after the comment from CS. I did an image before downloading though in case. :)

2011-05-27 05:20:00 | Cool stuff. Great to see a company responding so positively to the community, well done IMO! :D Happy for you to PM me, but I'm tempted to suggest you keep posting here rather than privately? Helps if others uncover the same thing too perhaps? Running Chrome 11.0.696.68 on Win7 Pro x64.

2011-05-27 16:02:00 | @Chilling_Silence -- we've looked into the issue extensively this morning and come to the conclusion that it was triggered by not properly closing the browser before the cleaner did it's work. You noted in your post that you ignored the warning box and kept Chrome open, so I'm pretty confident that was the culprit. We're going to make some logic changes to make it impossible for that to happen again. Look for a new version later today or tomorrow that will address this issue. Thanks a TON for the feedback, you have no idea how valuable stuff like this is!

Helps if others uncover the same thing too perhaps? Running Chrome 11.0.696.68 on Win7 Pro x64. Thanks! As far as PM'ing you, it would ONLY be to ask you to run debug version or something we didn't want uninformed users to download thinking it was a release build or something along those lines. Just wanted to clarify. Our short and interregnum term solutions will be posted here as promised :) |

2011-05-28 00:21:00 | Just leaving the office guys and going to get some food (we didn't eat today:). It's not live yet to the general public, but you can download the latest version from here: www.slimcleaner.com Most of the problems discussed here were a result of browsers not being closed. This version won't let you clean without the browsers being closed and closes them for you, if you agree. If you say no, it says it can't clean. I know this is not the optimal solution, but it will solve people crashing their browser while we make a smart algo to ignore browsers which are open and just notify you they were skipped (not a big task). As for cookie filtering, already in the works, not in this version. (not a big task) As for updates, they're automatic. Every time you launch the app. As for explaining badges and benefits to registering from the app, we are testing ideas slowly on that. From an expert's perspective, it's obvious how to use the app, however for a novice, we don't want to overwhelm. Also, we would rather people grasp the concept of the app (and voting) before registering anyway, so it's one of things we'll have to ease into over time. Enthusiasts who want to participate jump at the opportunity right now (and we like that). As for "tick all" in optimizations ... maybe. Still thinking about the ramification for novice users. In addition to the above here are some items from our change log that went into today's release: * Put a temporary solution in place for people choosing not to close their web browsers. * Fixed the thumbnail scrub definition handler so that it does not delete folders. * Made CResultCtrl and CSlimClean more predictable when the scan is canceled during the CSlimCleanStarted message. * Fixed the bugs with the Cleaner page that occurred when the scan was canceled during the CSlimCleanStarted message. * Worked around the hijack dialog not showing the AV scan result images in other hijack page tabs. * Re-applied to hijack logs AV ignores for drivers. * Moved the AV results signal make the hijack log AV images appear reliably. * Added the missing AV results signal to the optimize dialog. * Added more missing signals for the AV images in the hijack log page. * Fixed typos in the Cleaner page. * Fixed the size label in the Cleaner results. * Fixed the command-line handling for the Jump Lists. * Now the scheduler settings dialog deletes the old task before creating the new one. * Fixed an issue that caused the "scan" command line flag to shutdown the application when done. * Fixed an issue causing scheduler not to properly load its settings. * Fixed the alert settings checks in the Settings dialogs. Hope this helps!
