| 1170400 | 2011-01-17 02:47:00 | You can steal a car & not actually go to prison, so I think it will just be more empty threats. The laws for collection are there already, no-one is enforcing them. We had a 'get tough on unpaid fines' a few years back, with the same sort of threats. more sensible editorial here www.nzherald.co.nz |

| 1170401 | 2011-01-17 02:54:00 | The thing I am concerned about, if this ever gets off the ground, is that there are already large numbers of people driving without a licence (and some who have a licence that shouldn't be on the road at all - but that's an entirely different thread subject!), so taking someone's licence off them will not necessarily stop them driving. Hell, if they aren't sorry/guilty/remorseful enough to pay the fines from previous infringements, taking away a plastic card isn't going to mean much to them... |

| 1170402 | 2011-01-17 03:00:00 | I just got a $30 speed camera fine in the mail for doing 75 in a 70k zone. I mean really, if that isn't revenue gathering then what is. Pretty much every single person in the line of traffic I was in (and it was long) would have got one of these fines because we were going so dangerously fast. Sure Ill pay it but not happily. Its little things like this that make me think Australia is looking better every day (and the extra 50k p/a I could make over there). Time to contribute to the brain drain? |

| 1170404 | 2011-01-17 03:04:00 | +1 The only people affected will be those with a single (say) parking fine Those with multiple unpaid fines wont care & still wont pay. And wont ever get chased down for them. And whats with all the written off unpaid fines?? So If they know you wont ever pay, they give up ????? |
