1205148 2011-06-02 05:17:00 Intel Boards -Hmmmmmmm -- from my own personal experience, I wouldn't buy one any more.

Lets just say that over the last few years, out of the 4 Intel boards I have purchased for customers, 3 have failed within 6 months, only to be replaced by Gigabyte.

1205149 2011-06-02 05:19:00 So what can I get then instead of an intel board? I only have $450 to spend. QW. (15883)
1205150 2011-06-02 05:32:00 Personally- in order of Preference, ASUS or Gigabyte first, Then MSI.

I know several customers who also brought Computers from Various shops, and out of the ones that have failed boards, Intel, Asrock & ECS are generally the brands.

Asus & Gigabyte may be slightly more expensive, but Generally have better quality.

Totally up to you if you want to purchase a intel board, I'm only advising the troubles I have had with them over several years.

1205151 2011-06-02 05:46:00 If youre not fussed with the CPU or mobo, you can get a mini ITX mobo.

Something like this (www.computerlounge.co.nz). I think the CPU is integrated. Dont know what the speed is tho (It maybe 1.6 ghz). All you need is ram, and a case

Or this but I think the CPU is separate (www.computerlounge.co.nz). So, you'll have to buy the ram, CPU and case

That's a good starting point. Need to get RAM, case and windows 7

How about this V6-P5G31E? Its a barebones kit but looks like it has a Asus board

1205153 2011-06-02 07:07:00 keep in mind with that Barebones, looks like you still need to buy a CPU, RAM, OS (if Windows) Hard Drive & Optical drive. wainuitech (129)

1205156 2011-06-02 07:39:00 Surely you could re-use some things from the old PC, hard drive and CD drive should at least still work... Agent_24 (57)
