| 1172864 | 2011-01-28 21:21:00 | I don't care about 3.0. I'm still waiting for the 2.3 release! Do you think that things will be slower now (in terms of software updates) for the Nexus One now that Google have changed manufacturers johcar? |

| 1172865 | 2011-01-28 21:25:00 | No, I don't think the change in manufacturer will make a difference, but I'm not sure why Gingerbread (2.3) is being held up, since it's already available to the Nexus S. And many of the alternative (non-Google) ROMs have features that Gingerbread has, so it can't be a compatibility thing... | johcar (6283) | ||

| 1172867 | 2011-01-29 00:09:00 | There is no Vodafone shop where I live, but I had a look in the Telecom shop this am to see what they had in stock, and they had a SE X10 mini pro. Not working, but it was useful to see the size and get the feel of it. Crikey it is small. I noticed that the keyboard/phone connection felt distinctly shaky when the keyboard was extended. It has probably been hammered by Joe Public sliding the keyboard in and out on this demo model, but it did make me wonder how long this would last, even given reasonable care... I really liked the form factor for handling, and portability would be great, but I thought that the screen was so small that it would be a waste of the capability of the Android OS. It is probably a good cellphone, but it seems to me you either buy a cellphone (and care less about the OS), or you buy an Android device and make use of all its capability. In which case, you need to go for the bigger size like the Nexus One or S, or something like that. |

And the physical keyboard is irrelevant once you install Swype (http://swypeinc.com/). I used to be a big fan of physical keyboards (one of the reasons that I was forlornly holding out for Palm to bring the Palm Pre downunder). However, with a decent-sized screen, the touch interface is as good, if not better, than a physical one - it just takes a little bit of getting used to. The fewer the moving parts, the less there is to go wrong (from a mechanical point of view anyway).... |

If you can't wait, try the CyanogenMod 7 nightlies - they're Gingerbread-based, and extremely stable. |

| 1172870 | 2011-01-29 19:40:00 | Erayd/johcar: how is the power button on your N1 holding up? I've noticed mine has become less sensitive lately, and sometimes takes a couple of presses to wake the phone up from sleep. | somebody (208) | ||
| 1172871 | 2011-01-29 20:13:00 | Mine's not quite as good as it was when it was new, but it's still pretty good. Ditto for the 'volume down' button. Are you running CM7? CM7 doesn't have the power button debouncing code yet as far as I'm aware (CM6 has this), so it 'feels' worse than CM6 did. |

| 1172872 | 2011-01-29 20:19:00 | Mines OK - I've recently put a Case-Mate Gelli case on it, so I have to press harder anyway... | johcar (6283) | ||

I suspect part of the problem is I dropped my phone one day, and it landed button-side down on the desk. |
