1172723 2011-01-27 02:41:00 I'm not telling you how to do anything, the law (road code) on the other hand is.

1172724 2011-01-27 02:45:00 I object to having my life put at risk every morning by one or two ill mannered/minded cyclists who insist on riding in the inner "clearway" car lane and completely ignore the clearly marked cycle lane on the footpath on the Western Hutt Road.

Sooner or later one of these ^%$%^$ is going to get taken out and they will have no one to blame but themself. :(

1172725 2011-01-27 02:46:00 If you guys can't play nice I'll have to close this thread. Debate is fine, insulting each other is not. Siobhan Keogh (16063)
1172726 2011-01-27 03:06:00 Well I nearly accounted for another couple last week.

One passed me at 50k in a 50k area and cut in front of me clipping my front bumper with his rear wheel. Had he fallen off he was history.

What is it with these guys? They throw on $1000 worth of fancy clothing, hop on a $2000 bike and promptly loose all sense of self preservation.

Is this a Cult thing playing “Chicken” with cars and trucks whilst on a bike?

1172727 2011-01-27 03:12:00 Keep cyclists off footpaths, they are for pedestrians!!

In some areas, maybe - in others, it is perfectly ligitimate for them to ride on the footpath.

Take a look along the Old Hutt road into Wellington.

You are only allowed to cycle on the footpath if you are:

* delivering newspapers or mail, or
* you are riding a small wheeled recreational device that has a wheel diameter of less than 355 millimetres (typically tricycles or small children's bicycles).
