If it wasn't for the USA we would be all speaking Japanese now and probably eating rice and whale meat. With the current state of our armed forces we would not be able to beat Fiji or let alone Japan. |

It's OUR planet we ALL have the RIGHT to protect our environment . ____________ I can't speak for all crew (due to the recession) but most crew members have a job outside of Sea Shepherd and take time off work to come down to the SOWS, they are all volunteers, it is entirely their decision what they want to do with their life . In fact they are probably contributing MORE to the world than people who sit at a desk in an office day-in-day-out, and take everything for granted . Do you get a free pedestal as well? |

| 1172609 | 2011-01-26 07:45:00 | The UN World Charter for Nature Well theres your answer. If youre acting under the umbrella of the United Nations then they should be dealing with the issue. Mind you, you guys are good for a laugh when your Spin Doctor issues a press release raving about how youd chased some rusty old Jap Whaler for 26 days and 4000 km and then claim I quote: This whaling fleet belongs to us now lock, stock, and smoking harpoon gun. (what ever are they smoking?) I can see the tears if the Japs decide to retaliate. |

Mind you, you guys are good for a laugh when your Spin Doctor issues a press release raving about how you’d chased some rusty old Jap Whaler for 26 days and 4000 km and then claim I quote: “This whaling fleet belongs to us now – lock, stock, and smoking harpoon gun.” (what ever are they smoking?) I can see the tears if the Jap’s decide to retaliate. The charter provides the power/rights to enforce conservation laws/regulations yourself if the people responsible to do so choose not to. The UN doesn't really have teeth as they rely on member states to offer their military's/etc support/enforcement. Due to the scale of marine ecosystem abuse I doubt the UN would ever be in a position to enforce their charter alone. I don't see why individuals of UN member states can't hold up UN conventions. Use of the charter like that has been tested and upheld in court. www.seashepherd.org |

| 1172613 | 2011-01-26 13:45:00 | With all these "serial killing death ships" or whatever they are referred to as, after they sink the whalers with door to door knocking and youtube vids, they'll probably start on the trawlers, other boaties, once bored of that probably butcher shops, farms etc reminds of the priest I saw in garden place passing out his god papers saying the end of the world is near, these days its kind of like "who cares? This is a food court type of place, I came here to eat." |

I do not consider this promoting his 'business' or 'service' . It is no different to the many cyclist threads that pop up here . In general, Mods do not look kindly upon those that use this forum for their polictical campaigning or other propaganda . We will slap those that abuse the members goodwill with this sort of behaviour . Eg WMG . |
