2011-05-28 10:17:00 | So I avoid going for socket 775 motherboards and CPU's. Are the MSI motherboards anygood? | QW. (15883) | |

2011-05-28 11:00:00 | I use 2 here, that I put together. I may build a 3rd shortly. You can use DDR 2 or 3 on a socket 775 as well (if you want to use DDR3 ram). Since DDR3 is cheaper than DDR2. You could buy a mobo for 160, a 2.93 ghz CPU for 136, and DDR 3 for $40-50 each (for 2 GB) And if your PSU is good enough, you can use the one you're using now

2011-05-28 12:02:00 | Nothing wrong with Socket 775 apart from the fact they are being phased out and becoming obsolete very fast because they are no longer being produced . Classic example - take a look at Ascents site ( . ascent . co . nz/Category . aspx?majorcatID=37" target="_blank">www . ascent . co . nz) or any other shop for that matter - look at a the number of 775 boards compared to 1155 . Also notice most of the 775's are out of stock, this is because they cant get them any more - obsolete . This time last year, the range of 775's were comparable to the 1155 now . The majority of the NZ suppliers used to have a good range of 775's, now they have maybe 1 or 2 . Why purchase obsolete hardware ? Buy a socket 775 now, and expect troubles if a warranty claim is made .

2011-05-28 13:55:00 | Are the MSI motherboards anygood? They are one of the better brands, certainly better than ECS, Foxconn etc. In fact they're all I've ever used for my main builds, personally I really like them.

Does MSI build motherboards for both Intel and AMD? Think I have an AMD CPU 3200 lying around that I could use. |

2011-05-29 03:50:00 | That should be fine, if you can't find any AM2 boards, then an AM2+ one will work. | Agent_24 (57) | |
