1206099 2011-06-01 08:32:00 you need to change it from domain to workgroup. See if yuo can boot into safe mode / then change it Speedy Gonzales (78)

1206101 2011-06-01 08:41:00 See if you can log into the local Administrator account and change the setting there. (Use the "Log on to" field in the logon screen to select the computer itself.)

Disclaimer: I have not had to use Windows XP on a domain for a while now, so wording may vary.

1206103 2011-06-02 05:33:00 Well no point having it if you cant get into it. And the school wont give you the password, if they gave it to you. If you have windows cd or something, format it then reinstall windows. That'll fix it. There are free programs around that will remove it for you tho. Dont know if I can post a link in here or not. Altho, I've posted it before in other posts Speedy Gonzales (78)

He did say there's no cd/dvd drive in the pc :p , your best option would be to take it back to school, get the IT dept to login in the pc under the domain and than remove it from the domain, or get them to login under whatever workgroup is there besides the domain, once logged in, they can change the password for you.

what is the pc brand/model? if it has a recovery partition than you can boot into that and reinstall the OS but you will lose all the currently installed software.

1206105 2011-06-02 07:50:00 So, let's get this straight.... the teacher gave the OP a computer, but it's locked and the school won't tell the password - so why did they give it to him??

Then there's another problem with viruses that are found but can't be deleted, which may or may not be this computer.

Am I the only one confused?
