1205611 2011-05-29 22:37:00 I upgraded my DELL 1420 Inpiron Notebook fr Vista Home Premium to Win 7 Professional. Much better performance.

The notebook still plays individual .avi and .mpg files.
But there is one bug:

Now Windows Movie maker / DVD Maker will not launch.

That is, it won't launch Windows Movie maker or launch an .MSWMM if double-clicked on.

The card is (still) a NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GS.

I tried reloading the DELL video driver (but Win7 rejected it).
Tried some Win drivers for this card - no luck: the load process rejected the hardware.

a) Any driver solution known? OR ...

b) Anyone recommend a (free) prog which can assemble and play a mix of both stills (jpg) and video clips as MS Movie Maker can? Nero 9 won't.

Be most grateful!!

1205612 2011-05-29 23:35:00 Win 7 does not come with Movie Maker as such.

Try this instead.

You should always go to Nvidia. Not dell and certainly not MS.

1205614 2011-05-30 00:26:00 I had a similar problem. Download moviemaker from Microsoft as suggested by Snorkbox. Bryan (147)
1205615 2011-05-30 07:44:00 Thanks friends. Trust PressF1 to come thru.

One contact said
"Load NVIDIA 270.61-notebook-win7-winvista-32bit-international-whql.exe"
so I did and it worked.

Another said "Try the Movie maker in Windows Live Essentials".
So I did and automatically it remade the source project's 190 images-or-videos from an .MSWMM file to a .wmv file.

Wonderful!
