1174669 2011-02-03 08:26:00 if you're white, you'll never really know what racism is. Just like if you're male, you will never truly know what sexism is. You can know the definition, but its unlikely you'll ever understand.

I agree and disagree with you at the same time - I used to live in a poor (and predominantly Maori) area for a few years, trust me, I was a bit of a target. But yes, I do agree that, in the big picture, I wouldn't really know, being a white guy.

Also, I see a quote of mine in your sig :D

1174673 2011-02-03 19:16:00 You are talking about one of my favourite comedians and the only one that NZ has produced.

Oh, apart from Fred D.

1174675 2011-02-04 19:29:00 There is a wonderful piece in Friday's (4th Feb) Herald written by Jim Hopkins. What a gem he is, with observations and satire rolled into one.

Perhaps the author is unaware of the Maori electoral role,a tool to define exactly who is part of the "our people " group, and just one of many tools that promote racism within NZ.

Al of this is born from race based policy(funding) and the workings of Academia.

Its very real and will continue to get worse with each generation.
