At this stage National do not want him. He might have better luck with Labour I think.

JK made it very clear that he would not form a coalition with NZF tonight but I suspect that is just political posturing to try and kill any chance of his come back. He seemed happy enough forming a coalition with Act and the Maori party.

1174568 2011-02-02 09:45:00 Still not 100% sure why, considering he didn't *need* their votes to get into government last time around. Still, I guess he's made more of a longer-term ally out of the Maori party by doing that, better to have them on his side than against him I suppose right? Chilling_Silence (9)

Don't you think that it's just toooo early to say that? ha, ha, politician's promises?

1174570 2011-02-02 10:03:00 And it's $300 million per week currently and not 250 as stated by the way. Snorkbox (15764)

I did say at this stage. Who knows what will happen in the coming months. Things can change in politics maybe John and Winston will become best of friends.

1174572 2011-02-02 10:12:00 You do understand the developed world is still coming out if a MAJOR recession?. NZ has done relatively well compared to most other OECD nations in the last 3 years.

Neither party could have avoided it, but I prefer to have the more business orientated party in under the circumstances.

Labour just stood there while 16 finance companies collapsed leaving investors out billions.

1174573 2011-02-02 10:15:00 We will be lucky to ever balance the books because too much money is being sent over seas in the form of interest and dividends etc.

x2

Which is why we have to increase savings and promote the sharemarket, so that we can buy back some of those companies that send our money overseas.

And if more kiwis joined TSB or kiwibank, that would be less bank dividends going overseas.
