We attended a wedding at the historical 1870's Raukokore church in Waihau Bay this weekend past. I never saw this area before, and probably never will again but it is beautiful. Just a pity the locals try to rip you off with everything - from accommodation to food at some places. The Post Office (that featured in the movie Boy) makes the most awesome hamburgers. Lots of extremely big fishing boats and people around due to the Marlin season. We even had luck surfcasting - I never had so much fun, in two hours, with my clothes on. The pan sized schnapper just kept on biting (and being caught), only to be released again. My son also had great schnapper catches with plastics
