1207337 2011-06-06 10:44:00 Need to get something portable for doing powerpoint and the odd video. Would a netbook be sufficient, or would it be better to get a laptop? Would a netbook have a high enough resolution, or is that not relevant if connected to a projector?

Any suggestions/ideas/comments welcome :)

Cheers,
Mike.

1207338 2011-06-06 10:47:00 I connected a netbook to an external monitor and could not get the full screen on the monitor . (might be fixed by changing settings).

A netbook should be suitable for your needs.

1207339 2011-06-06 10:59:00 Isn't most projectors work at XGA? 1024x768.
There are some $500 ish Netbooks with reso's of 13xx x 600.....

Even my bro said the Netbook is only good for consuming but not to work on. It might be too cramped if you are doing more than just running the slideshow. While some have highish reso the words can get a bit small on the 10" screen.

1207340 2011-06-06 11:53:00 Helped my daughter recently buy an Acer Aspire One 522. A 10.1" netbook with a 1280*720 res screen. Cost $494.

It's great. Am sure it would do the trick for your requirements.

Here is the conclusion of a comprehensive review:

1207341 2011-06-07 06:45:00 So does the video output on a netbook allow you to change resolution? or is it fixed to whatever the netbook screen is? Do they even have video output plugs? :)
