1206684 2011-06-03 08:05:00 Have windows 7, and use cashbook complete. tried to open today and the message "error - unable to initialize the windows registry. Rerun Microsoft Access or MS office install".

Any ideas what this means and how I can fix it ? I have MS office student and the access trial period has expired. Is this likely to be the issue perhaps ?

Have run MSE scan and ccleaner but did not find any issues and fixed all registry problems in ccleaner.

Cheers

1206685 2011-06-03 08:16:00 Copy your data file to somewhere else just in case, it's in documents\cashbook data. either reinstall cashbook complete straight over the old install, or do an uninstall & re install. Mine sometimes does similar when I've run to many registry cleaners, virus scans etc & deleted everything they find. Phil B (648)
1206686 2011-06-03 08:21:00 Fairly sure cashbook complete uses access runtime modules so uninstall the Office trial you have unless you want to pay for it as well as the advice given by Phil B. Snorkbox (15764)

1206689 2011-06-03 08:28:00 Had the exact same thing happen to mine when I upgraded office 2007 to 2010, Cashbook Complete threw a wobbly.

As per what phil Suggested, cured the problem - copied the data file ( just in case - but should be backed up anyway), reinstalled CBC over the top and away it went again.

1206690 2011-06-03 22:42:00 Are you using the latest Cashbook? It's now version 5.03f. Have had that problem a few times in the past as well, just reinstall Cashbook as "they" say.Hasn't done it for a while lately. Neil McC (178)

Using ver 503f.

1206692 2011-06-23 00:54:00 Just happened again today.Pain.Would think they'd fix it by now. Neil McC (178)
1206693 2011-06-23 01:24:00 From what I see, its not actually Cashbook thats causing the problem.

If you have Microsoft Office installed, and the version has Access then its that whats taking over. CB use Access 97 in the program.

Thats why theres problems, the newer version on your Computer is taking over fro some reason.
By reinstalling CB it puts back its default Access97 instead of using the one in office. If you never had Access ( in office) installed you wouldn't get the problem.

The only times I have really had a problem is when I have installed office after installing cashbook, whether it be an upgrade of Office, or a new install.
