1176603 2011-02-09 06:33:00 I spent ~45 minutes on hold earlier today before giving up.

I'm now ~50 minutes in (on hold, calling from a cellphone), and still haven't gotten through to a human to speak to.

1176604 2011-02-09 06:37:00 I had the same prob the other week. Since their online chat didnt know the answer, I had to ring and wait for 40-45 mins. In the end, I gave up and rang a few days later Speedy Gonzales (78)
1176605 2011-02-09 08:08:00 Usually if Telstra have a problem someplace, every man and his dog, and occasional gold fish :p are trying to ring, and the wait times can be long.
If they have long wait times I hang up, no use waiting to be told they have a problem and their techs are work on it ------no kidding.

Also if you call first thing in the morning or late in the afternoon often the times are longer. If you call in the evening they have less call centers open.

I called the other day, mid morning, went through in under 5 minutes.

1176606 2011-02-09 08:15:00 Gave up after about an hour. I'll give them a call from work tomorrow I guess.

I'm calling back in regards to an issue which has been going on for a while - the modem will disconnect every day or so, and take ~5minutes to reconnect.

They sent out a technician last time who said the original person who did the install hadn't set up the splitter properly, so he switched some cables around. That seemed to do the trick for a while, but now the problem has returned.

1176607 2011-02-09 08:21:00 Sounds like the prob I had with my old modem. When I moved to Telstra in Dec last yr. I had to use the modem, Telstra sent to me when I joined. And its been fine Speedy Gonzales (78)

Odd. Don't they just use standard dynalink routers, no custom firmware?

1176609 2011-02-09 09:33:00 You mean Telstra's modem?? Its a Dynalink RTA1320v6. Only 1 port, and no wireless ( I didnt use wireless before anyway). But I've added a 5 port gigabit switch for the 2 PC's here. Cant be too bad. I didnt have to do anything (like add my username/password for Telstra). Once I connected it, I got online

The old modem / the Dlink, was one I brought (so didnt use firmware from an ISP). But, if it was online (when I changed to Telstra), it would disconnect constantly. I never had a prob with it, when I was with Xnet. Telstra told me to try connecting 2 filters, to see if that would fix it (I didnt try it)

1176610 2011-02-09 18:23:00 I'm on cable - so the modem is the Motorola Surfboard one they give you when you sign up. You can't use your own. somebody (208)
1176611 2011-02-09 20:41:00 Looks like its a common prob (www.google.co.nz) Speedy Gonzales (78)
