Would be totally different if it was the Public Sector and they had a Code of Conduct etc. I worked at BK 15 - 17yrs old - starting on $6.20 p/hr and by the time I left was on $9.20, the large rise in two years for the simple fact I turned 16 and they Legally had to pay me $8.50 or what ever the 'Youth Rate' was back then which now doesn't apply due to Minimum Wage being paid to anyone over the age of 16. Yes that's right haters I worked at BK just like Chester from Linkin Park :punk Just reading the article makes me want BK for lunch :thumbs: |

There is a need for people to be careful what they post on public forums about their employers. I do doubt that the comment made on her Facebook page would do any great harm to BK. BK would have been better to discuss the matter with her and simply ask her to remove the comment. Why the comment was posted in the first place shows a flaw in BK's handling of staff. Any follow up action by the Union will do more harm to BK than the original comment on Facebook ever did. A mountain is being made of a molehill. |

If she had only 1 warning and was on a final, then she hasnt just dropped 5 dozen eggs |

| 1176435 | 2011-02-09 01:02:00 | Yeah it depends whats written into your contract, company policy on things like defamation, what counts as gross misconduct etc. Instant dismissal isn't that unheard of for that kind of thing, it's more than just "freedom of speech". You can say it and won't get into trouble with the law, but you can still lose your job. Some homes disallow swearing. It's still legal, you can do it from the rooftops or the roadside, but if you're a child and your parents disallow that, you might find you don't have dinner waiting for you when you come home from school... |
