1176179 2011-02-07 21:37:00 There seems to be many online businesses advertised, all asking for your money and promising ways of making good money online, but how do you tell, after spending your hard earned, that you are going to be shown how to make money online?

Has anyone joined any of these companies and made some money? Or are they all scams? From what I have heard the latter seems to be the case, but I do wonder if there is someone who is making money online?

I am in a situation where, because of my lack of transport, I spend a lot of time at home. It would be great if I could make good use of my time and make some money as well.

Anybody have any positive stories on making money online?

1176180 2011-02-07 21:53:00 Yes - the people running these scams are making a nice living for themselves online.

On a more serious note, there are legitimate ways to get freelance work online. For example, a friend of mine has used this site http://www.freelancer.com/ several times to hire freelance workers from around the world to do work for him - graphic designers etc.

You can make money taking on freelance work, but there's no such thing as a free lunch.

1176181 2011-02-07 23:29:00 Thanks for that, Somebody, I shall have a look.

I am not looking for something for nothing and I'm prepared to do the work, but I don't want to throw my money away.

It does seem as though you are right, the people running the scams are doing ok.

1176182 2011-02-08 04:50:00 Although most of the work advertised on that Freelancer.com site is technically oriented, there are some "non-technical" roles like proofreading and so on which require people with a good grasp of spelling/grammar. somebody (208)
1176183 2011-02-08 09:29:00 Roscoe,
There are thousands of people like you wanting to make money online.
I have used that Freelancer site.

Have you any skills or talents ?

1176185 2011-02-08 20:28:00 Try content writing for a niche blog or web site . I make money - monthly payments from Google Adsense, and various affilate programs, but took 18 months for consistency and increased payment . Now partly in auto pilot mode .

Mainly from websites/blogs - CPC and direct sales of affiliate products, hotel affiliates, e . g . fishpond NZ books/electronics, hotels combined affiliate bookings, etc . Do so by finding a niche audience and try meet their needs through keyword research and content targeting, and displaying relevant cpc ads and affiliate products . Learnt from others, SEO techniques, and tons of market research using free tools . Plenty of work though - running 14 of my own blogs/sites, but really only working currently on about 6 .

Also do paid surveys for NZ products for valued opinions . Others have offered to pay for their content (or me to write for them) or review products for money to put on my sites . But moved away from that, because had to include their links - moving my target visitors away .

Try niche content content targeting (if you have time and inclination - cause that's what it takes - but some take a easy paid approach but can run the gauntlet with Google if not careful) . See keywords blogger ( . com/) or Grizz (http://goarticles . com/author/Grizzly-Brears/46507/" target="_blank">keywordsblogger . com/) or Grizz (http:),to start out . It works - but you may never see real cash flow for at least 6 months, or if too competitive (e . g . travel, computers, healthcare, etc) - at least 2 years . There is also hub pages (http://hubpages . com/) where you can earn - just write good content, don't need a site, but becoming too competitive with many experienced marketers, writers, etc .

Not certain what you mean by special skills or talents. What skills or talents can be used online? I am, for example, very interested in, and quite good at, sound recording and sound editing. I also do video recording and editing and consider myself quite good at that, as well. Is there any call for that online, do you think?

Kahawai Chaser:
What you have to say is interesting. I assume that you have tried most of the things that you speak of?

I will have a look at the sites you have mentioned, thank you. I do have the time and inclination, which is why I started this thread.

I don't know what content writing or niche content targeting is, but if it is something I can do I am willing to give it a try.

Perhaps if you have the time - and only if you have the time - I would be interested to have a talk with you. I live in Onehunga and would be pleased if you had the time to spend a while on the phone. Does that sound possible?

Meantime, I shall have a look at the sites you mentioned. Thanks so much. Most appreciated.

Well done all of what I said and other online avenues - some with failures . But basically now a niche blogger/researcher now trying to build up authoritative sites, which rank OK for certain search queries .

Targeted Content writing (or called ad copy in the industry), just means writing essays/tutorials say for own web site or blog (e . g . Google's blogger or wordpress platform) . But need offer relevant solutions, with little (or non SEO optimized) competing sites, and attract a pool of premium online advertisers, for online searchers that want or desire what you offer or describe . Plus be keen to help others to build trust and some authority . There are many refinement techniques to employ and maintain to stay on top, for search queries .

If you are good at something (or can cope researching a topic for info to learn) - e . g . fixing cars, pc hardware, or describing cooking, travel ventures, fishing, or whatever then go from that but with the aforementioned factors . From niche to sub to micro niche if initially too competitive . Offers the most stable daily income in the long term from what I have found . Always new/unique global searchers wanting a need everyday . Unfortunately NZ search volumes are too low in many verticals . Most go running to trademe, so I captured some of them by building NZ optimized auction tip sites . But really need go global (as in content optimized) for maximum targeted hits .

Can have a chat by phone - maybe PM me first about what you want to do or how to approach online ventures .

1176188 2011-02-09 02:56:00 I'll bet most people would like their sound system improved and don't have a clue.

You can start with me.
