While the AB were the greatest a number of years ago, probably before they got paid so much, they have been bloody useless for years. Really, I didnt' know that. I guess I made an assumption that there are more rugby players than soccer from my own personal experience. Can you show me the stats so I can tell others as well? I would hardly call the AB's useless. Could it be that the others have gotten better? I think the level of fitness and skill of the modern rugby player is far better than their predecessors. The same could be said for soccer, the 1982 team were good but 2010 team skill level is far superior - but they didn't win anything. Does that mean they are useless? Let's just reward minority sports where there is no real competiton, maybe next year the winner will be for the new sport of scuba cricket, Adam Parore beating off a huge field of one to take the Halberg. Nope, they are playing in a tough competition. Fifa say there are just under 200000 football players in New Zealand, but only around half are officially registered. IRB says there are about 137000 registered rugby players, they don't give a figure for all players. Exact figures on Fifa and IRB web sites. In Wellington last year they restricted the number of teams in football because they can't find enough grounds to play on, it is certainly not a minority sport here as some would claim. I think you need to get under a tree, they still are the greatest, records are being smashed/set and still ranked number 1 in the world.
