2011-02-12 05:27:00 | bugger I put it on my netbook then ran the cleanup tool . So what happens if you can't remove the RC? Just an Update to this . You CAN remove the SP1 RC version even after running the cleanup tool . I have just done it quite successfully . How you do it is go into system restore, when you run the cleanup tool, it creates a restore point . Run that restore point, of course it will remove any other programs installed after SP1 RC was installed . Once the restore does its thing ( takes a while) you can then click on the SP1 RC under installed updates and the option to uninstall it is available, and it uninstalls it .

2011-02-12 05:41:00 | Surely SP1 wouldn't actually have much in it if you have done regular updates? | plod (107) | |
2011-02-12 07:09:00 | Surely SP1 wouldn't actually have much in it if you have done regular updates? SP1 has some new features, not just updates. This of course will also be determined by what version a person is running. Once SP1 is installed - then After running the cleanup tool you can gain back over 1GB of drive space in some cases.

2011-02-16 19:08:00 | Will you get back to us on installing over the RC, otherwise I will be doing a re install next week on one of my systems here | gary67 (56) | |
2011-02-16 19:37:00 | Sure Gary, no problems - I was going to try and get it done today. The two downloads I posted before were the full versions - there is also a smaller one of 1.91GB I suspect the public download will be smaller, esp if Via windows update.

2011-02-17 02:32:00 | Will you get back to us on installing over the RC, otherwise I will be doing a re install next week on one of my systems here Right o Then -- it can be done- You can install the RTM over the top of the RC even after running the cleanup tool. Normal method wont allow it, sys you have to remove the RC first. Bit of mucking about, but theres a few errrrrrrrrr things you have to do. Check your PM's ;)
