| 1176478 | 2011-02-09 05:50:00 | There are only so many jobs and the people who cant get them should not get money from the other workers (taxpayers). In my ideal world they would walk into the mountains like Capt Oates and not walk back out. | prefect (6291) | ||
| 1176479 | 2011-02-09 05:51:00 | You cannot just say 10,000 new jobs and only for the jobless people to apply . . You assume everyone on the dole is unskilled . No government can "create" jobs Likewise, you can't make living on the dole a lifestyle choice . . They shouldn't say so then . Like the 4000 the cycle track was supposed to create . And how is the dole a lifestyle? Unemployment Benefit rates at 1 October 2010 . Net Single 18 - 19 years away from home $161 . 76 Single 20 - 24 years $161 . 76 Single, 25+ years $194 . 12 Married, civil union or de facto couple (with or without children) $323 . 52 Sole parent $278 . 04 |

The point I was saying with that sentence was that, you cannot just say these new jobs can only be applied by the unemployed . |

| 1176483 | 2011-02-09 07:17:00 | Looks like it's a debate between National vs Labour. To me, with our present bunch of politicians, all the parties, National, Labour, Act, etc., etc., are all the same; they only care for their own pockets! Best solution for the time being is to sack all of them and appoint and pay consultants to run the show - after all, they are engaging consultants to do their jobs, anyway.:D |

The adult minimum wage applies to all employees aged 16 and over who are not new entrants or trainees. If an employee has to pay a school leaver adult rates he is less likely to employ a youth who has no experience or training. How do our youth get this experience or training? Why were youth rates taken away? I can see more young people not being given the opportunity for employment thus continued youth unemployment. |

And Pctek you know that many people on the dole have other means of income. In the UK, they are "talking" about making every person on the dole turn up to their WINZ every day, and then go and look for jobs from there, and or do some charity work. They believe that thousands will go off the dole, as they have other income and will find a job real quick as they don't want to work for charity just for the dole. There was a unemployed man on the radio today saying he could not get a job, he was a truck driver with 6 certificates, but they only wanted to pay $22.00 an hour and he could not support his family on that. Yet he was happy to take the dole! And deep down we all know that over half of the sickness beneficiaries are not sick. They are druggies or alcholics, or are "depressed". They should all be called in front of a panel of 3 lay people (eg Press F1 members) to explain their sickness. Doctors cannot be trusted to give out medical certificates. And every beneficiary should be made to re-apply once a year. |
