1175981 2011-02-07 20:15:00 Telecom say this plan is designed for home businesses so they don't throttle the speed after you go over the limit, instead they charge it at $20/GB. So keep an eye on the usage meter ;)

You mean $2

Hmm I see it has changed then.

Got billed for over $300 over the standard bill a few months back, nearly died when I saw it, rang Telecom and for once they were understanding (I told them I assumed the speeds would be slowed as opposed to charging ridiculous prices) and I got a one-off refund :D

1175984 2011-02-07 22:49:00 i switched from total home (the one with the free national calling) and extra 10 Gb bolt on. Was paying $115.

The new plan is about the same but to one nominated national number (SWMBO's sister in Auckland) and 40GB of data.

You can choose when you sign up if you want to be charged overage at $2 per GB or throttled.

Plans start at 40GB and go up to 80Gb. About time some decent, reasonably priced plans came out. Sure not a patch on unlimited, but we all knew that was doomed to failure - what with some people (I personally know 2) getting 1TB+ a month.

1175985 2011-02-07 23:05:00 Be aware though, that National calls under the new plan are charged.
I remained on the original total home package because we make 10-25 toll calls a month to various places in NZ.

Also look at charges under the new plan for overseas land-line calls. They have gone up.

Six of one half a doz of the other... broadband or calls... decision comes down to that.

1175986 2011-02-08 00:01:00 The packages need a bit of work. Cicero (40)
1175987 2011-02-08 01:28:00 and vodafone's new plans (4 or 5 months now...) are similar

homephone plus 30 gig max speed up and down..... $100 for example

(and less if you're in their 'red zone' up north)

1175988 2011-02-08 02:25:00 I'm on the same 40Gig plan from Telecom, where I had a choice of paying or throttling. Not using the 40Gigs, though, even trying very hard. I have about 20 Gig a month unused. Quite happy with my speeds too.

1175990 2011-02-08 04:27:00 For AUD128, from Telstra, I get a landline, Free std calls anywhere in Australia. freecalls to all mobiles within Australia, a concession rate on International phone calls 24/7 of about 5c per minute. plus ADSL2 Broadband with 100GB download a month (which I don't use, never been higher than about 22GB/month) and there are some naked broadband deals that leave Telstra for dead eg. TPG and iinet. KenESmith (6287)
