| 1209417 | 2011-06-15 07:16:00 | I need to remove the back panel to install my old laptop HDD into my new DV7's secondary HDD bay, the problem is they have made a single one single cover for everything and it doesn't have any screws on it, how do I get it off? Does anyone know how to do this? I have searched unsucesfully for a manual/disassembly guide. thought perhaps it just pull off, I got a few tabs out but it felt like it was going to snap off, don't want to destroy 1700 worth of DV7 before its a day old :D Model is DV7 6016TX Cheers. |

If they're different connectors you might run into problems. Why not look into an enclosure or a dock? |

| 1209423 | 2011-06-16 09:20:00 | No latch, just pulls up I believe. Decided to take the risk and popped it out. I do NOT like the idea of all these little plastic tags :/ will call HP and tell them is sucks and if it gets broken under normal use I will be expecting a free replacement. Anyway, after opening it and getting the 2nd HDD panel off I find the there is conveniantly no 2nd HDD cable and none of the ones I have are long enough. As part of my rant about plastic clips I will also be discussing the finer points of shipping a cable to me. The windows easy transfer too a good 2.5 hrs over 1gbps ethernet :( ah well. |
