| 1209336 | 2011-06-15 02:41:00 | I have heard from many computer related people that they don´t use antivirus softwares and they can delete a virus without their help. it seems little stupid to me: once your data is stolen by a trojan there is little use deleting it. It was just a little preview. So I use BitDefender antivirus with all its features, malwarebytes antimalware, spybot search & destroy and comodo firewall. I don´t use them all at once ofcourse. I also have some other softwares for critical situations. so what do you use for surfing the net securely? |

"I have heard from many computer related people that they don´t use antivirus softwares" I dought it it. Can be done but not recommended "and they can delete a virus without their help" This is utter BS. They wouldnt even know they were infected. scanning/Cleaning without AV is completely impractical "so what do you use for surfing the net securely" use simple common sense. Its the only tool that will work. Thats why many of the regulars here dont have issues with virus infections. Dont use IE or Outlook if your are that paranoid. Bottom line is: virus's/malware can get through any & all AV/spyware /malware programs common sense use of the PC is your best defence: stay away from porn sites, facebook, warez & keygens, joke emails & suspicious email with links in em. |

| 1209339 | 2011-06-15 03:28:00 | 1101 I am that paranoid and I don´t use IE and outlook express. But i disagree that if you don´t use porn sites and warez sites you are protected. You are never completely protected unless you don't use internet at all. If you want to download apps or movies or just chat doesn´t matter there is a risk to get infected anyway and thats why is needed to have antivirus and not only one |

| 1209340 | 2011-06-15 03:31:00 | Same as Speedy Microsoft anti virus and Windows7 firewall. And use Firefox sometimes Opera. Never visit dodgy sites either, or If I do then I have an old PC running Linux for doing that. I keep up to date images of my computers so i can just restore them if I get hit by something nasty and yes I always check my images to make sure they work | gary67 (56) | ||
| 1209341 | 2011-06-15 04:04:00 | 1101 But i disagree that if you don´t use porn sites and warez sites you are protected. I NEVER said that. I suggested staying away from those sites heres what we both said "I have heard from many computer related people that they don´t use antivirus softwares" I dought it it. Can be done but not recommended You dont need the internet to get infected either. USB drives are a great source of virus infections in corporate workplaces. Can also get infections from CD's that come with PC mags or gaming mags. This has happened !!!! even Blank floppies(still sealed in box) from reputable suppliers have had virus's on em. |

You dont have to use OE or IE to get infected. If you use P2P programs, you've got more chance of getting infected. And if you use an AV program and a separate firewall (if you use P2P programs), you may as well have nothing at all I was helping a cousin up north a few weeks ago (using Teamviewer). She works at the Warehouse. And I noticed that every time she used the photo kiosk up there, her USB flash drive / memory card kept getting infected with an autorun worm. So, I told her to tell the warehouse to check their kiosks for infections (yes these things can get infected). And to write protect her memory card. So, it wouldnt infect the system again. |

| 1209343 | 2011-06-15 04:26:00 | 1101 I agree with you:) there are lots of sources for infecting PC´s so what do you use for protection except of common sense Speedy Gonzales I use different firewall and AV, but some av´s and other protection software sometimes destroy each other during scanning, so if anyone uses two different av´s at the same time, first it would be better to make little research if they might be compatible |

| 1209344 | 2011-06-15 04:38:00 | Frankly, if you don't use (un)common sense, you are wide open no matter what AV progs you have running. Seen it too often on other's comps. Morphing makes signature scanners useless. Biggie is not to click on free offers of scans, toolbars etc. Fake AV is the most prevalent, lately. I just use MSE and win FW but these won't help if I click unwisely accepting downloads! |

| 1209345 | 2011-06-15 04:48:00 | I don't run an antivirus. I do however run Malware Bytes + CCleaner once a month as a routine checkup it rarely finds anything though. |
