| 1179108 | 2011-02-16 23:54:00 | My mums cousin bought a laptop off TradeMe a while ago, and she couldn't get it going at all, and said it crashed (it had a dead 120gb mini-sata). We tried to get it going, but the HD was dead. They ended up letting me keep it. and yesterday, i put in a 40gb mini sata drive and it's loaded fine and is now running windows 7 home premium. It has 1gb ram, Intel celeronM 1.6ghz, 256mb intel graphics which does not use system ram etc.. its a Compaq Presario c300. it looks almost the same as my compaq presario v2000 but this one is slightly bigger and doesn't have a glossy screen. This one also has a fully working battery. i've been running it off the battery for 10 minutes so far, plus i'm typing this, and the windows 7 battery bar is still at 100%. This is the best laptop i have ever had. Here is a list of all the ones i've had: Canon - -unknown model, but it had 4mb ram, a black and white screen, ran windows for workgroups 3.11 and had a built in black and white printer under the keyboard.) Toshiba Satellite - can't remember the model, but it was the Original Toshiba Satellite. The first model. It had the floppy drive, the Designed for windows 95 sticker, it ran win 95 with 16mb ram, it only had a PC speaker.) Compaq Evo n410c - My first somewhat decent laptop, which we traded a grass cart motor for, we also got a digital camera and a video camera out of it. This was the first one that had XP, it also could play dvds, audio edit, and could access the internet. It had 1.2ghz cpu, Compaq Presario V2000 - I got this last year, and it has done me good. It has XP home, 512mb ram (128 used for ATI Graphics) 1.8ghz cpu. But recently this lappy has been going as slow as a camel, as it needs a new windows installation. Plus the backlight occasionally plays funny buggers. and now, the Compaq Presario C300. new enough that it has Vista Supported drivers from 2007 which work perfectly in 7. I didn't even need to download any drivers what so ever, except the touchpad driver so i could turn off the scrolling on the touchpad. EDIT: The battery meter is still at 100% after about 10 minutes of typing this, is that normal? sorry if it's a stupid question, but i'm used to batterys which crap out really quickly. |

| 1179110 | 2011-02-17 00:07:00 | it just says 100% remaining. I had the battery going for 1 hour and 45 minutes in my V2000, and that was on a slow windows that needs to be formatted. plus i viewed quite a few utube vids.and the battery was only at 63% when i turned it on. It seems like it's a good battery and is running well in this C300, though it would be nice to see the meter go down abit, just so i know its working right. |

| 1179112 | 2011-02-17 05:53:00 | I have a problem. VLC (latest version) is struggling to de-interlace dvd's. The picture jumps a bit too. My V2000 de-interlaced dvds perfectly and i could view them without any jumps, just a smooth, full frame picture. I've even tried turning off Windows 7's eye candy, but it hasn't helped. should i try vlc 0.8.3e? as thats the version thats on my V2000. |

| 1179117 | 2011-02-17 06:00:00 | my v2000 has a AMD Semphron. I would have thought intel was better than an amd semphron | goodiesguy (15316) | ||
