1178003 2011-02-16 02:24:00 How about when a bug or bee flys in your open window and your eye? Pedantic, perhaps, however, man has proved time and again, we are not all powerful when it comes to circumstances, and we have to accept that sometimes, there is nothing we can do!...accidents happen.

TBH, I just find views of some here extraordinary, when compared to the views of other matters...

That's not as silly as it sounds as I know someone that recently got stung by a wasp that flew in the car window. Had they been driving instead of being a passenger it might have been a different story.

Guilty as charged, your honour.

I plead mitigating circumstances. I'm as human as the next guy - pretty sure he's from this planet.... :stare:

1178009 2011-02-16 05:26:00 That was no accident as it is illegal to spotlight from the road as he was doing and he did not identify his target. How you can even make a comparison and think this girl was worse really makes me wonder.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Let's make it simple for you:

Shooter - broke the law by spotlighting
Driver - broke the law by driving carelessly

Shooter - did not ID target, therefore not controlling his bullet
Driver - did not attend to her responsibility as a driver, therefore losing control of her vehicle

Shooter - fired bullet irresponsibly causing death
Driver - lost control of a vehicle causing multiple deaths

Shooter - very remorseful, owned up to his guilt, sent to jail
Driver - very remorseful, owned up to her guilt, no jail

Shooter - there were no mitigating factors that caused him to fire erroneously, therefore 100% his fault
Driver - There were no mitigating factors reported that allowed the driver a reason to defend her guilt, therefore 100% her fault.

The sooner we get it into our societies brains that everyday drivers are in control of a 'weapon' that can kill others and not a safety pod for the driver the better it will be everyone.

To be fair to the driver, she did identify her target unlike the shooter

Which court can we see you in action in?

1178012 2011-02-16 06:15:00 :) further more your honour :)

Shooter - his bullet didn't go through 3 people
Driver - hers did

My summation - not to minimise the suffering of the shooting victims family, but the suffering of 3 families, using simple math is 3 times more tragic than the suffering of 1 family.

Although the deaths caused in both cases are equally tragic, the penalty that causes the death of 3 victims must warrant a punishment equal to or exceed the punishment for 1.
