1177993 2011-02-16 00:00:00 She lost control of the car and killed 3 people. It was 100% driver error. How much more careless can you get?

Just because she wasn't breaking the speed limit, doesn't mean she wasn't going too fast for the corner or not paying attention to what was in front of her.

Anyway...she pleaded guilty to careless driving. Clearly, she was being careless. I'm not aware of any evidence that was presented to the court to explain any other reason for her losing control of the car.

wow, dude......!!, so to you, a driver error is carelessness? how about when you sneeze!, i had a friend crash due to a sneeze, is that carelessness, or a wet shoe sliding off the brake pedal, carelessness?
I have been driving for over 30 yrs, and would like to think I have a good idea on reckless, careless and accidents, how about you?

YES!

If you're going to sneeze to the point where it's going to distract you from driving, slow down and pull over. Was your friend following the vehicle in front too close, by any chance? Maybe he took his eyes off the road for a split second, and lo and behold, found himself rear-ending the car in front. If he'd been following a safe distance, sneezing wouldn't have been an issue.

And don't drive with wet shoes!

Is that because you've been in a few?

1177996 2011-02-16 00:18:00 I'll throw this into the mix

A young guy, after a late nighter on the town, hits & kills a roadmaker.
He drives off (was he drunk??)

He gets no jail term.

1177997 2011-02-16 00:21:00 You know she was being negligent?, i believe she simply lost control of the car, what did she do to be careless?, she wasnt speeding by all accounts!

You really crack me up. As if you know how a sneeze is going to turn out and it is not always as if they give fair warning.
I'm not surprised with a nickname like yours that you think you are perfect.

1177999 2011-02-16 00:49:00 Sigh...anyone who claims that a sneeze caused them to crash is probably hiding something.

e.g.

And I'm not surprised we have such an awful road toll given the attitude of a few people on here.

Some of you guys are either completely thick, ignorant, or both.

Actually, I have never been involved in an accident. So tell me, what constitutes an accident to you?

1178002 2011-02-16 02:13:00 British Police (at least when I was there 30 years ago) held a view that there is no such thing as a motor vehicle 'accident'. There is always something that could have been prevented by someone: travelling slower in the conditions, replacing that bald tyre, indicating, moving left, looking both ways at an intersection - twice, not adjusting the car radio volume at that specific time etc.

A good view to have IMO - but of course it smacks of personal responsibility (and common sense), which is a no-no in this day and age....
