She didn't intend to kill anyone obviously but jails have had visitors before that didn't intend to kill anyone but their actions caused a death - jail should have been a minimum. I personally would have expected to go to jail if that was me. My circumstances, married on single income with 4 children, the hardship as a family we would go through is NOTHING compared to those left behind of the victims. The guy that accidentally shot and killed that woman brushing her teeth, showed remorse, pleaded guilty and accepted jail as the only outcome. I believe this incident is far worse than the shooting incident. That lad broke the law regarding (light) or something, oh, he didnt ID the target correctly...That is NOT an accident, that is negligence and as such with a weapon, he had to be jailed. This on the other hand, WAS an accident, no less tragic, however NOT offence requiring incarceration IMO... |

| 1177985 | 2011-02-15 20:35:00 | So the lesson I learn from this is that if I want to kill someone it's best to do it with a vehicle rather than a rifle. | Snorkbox (15764) | ||

I believe this incident is far worse than the shooting incident. That was no accident as it is illegal to spotlight from the road as he was doing and he did not identify his target. How you can even make a comparison and think this girl was worse really makes me wonder.:rolleyes::rolleyes: |

You are guilty just by association if a gun is involved unless you are that cop shooting a courier then its just an accident. You could say the vehicle hitting the cyclists wasnt an accident too because she was speeding and lost control. Americans call it vehicular manslaughter or murder. Killing a person with 700kg of steel should be the same crime as killing them with 3 kg of steel. |

You aren't showing much common sense here :groan: as what that guy was doing when he shot and killed that woman brushing her teeth was completely illegal and it has nothing to do with the difference between a gun and a car. There has been no mention of her speeding just that she lost control. Just for your information I own three guns. |

I see you point but disagree...she was being equally negligent. This wasn't an 'accident'. This was an act of gross carelessness and disregard for human life. In the wrong hands, a motor vehicle is a deadly weapon. She got off VERY lightly, although I suspect the resulting mental trauma will do her more damage than a jail term ever would. |

You know she was being negligent?, i believe she simply lost control of the car, what did she do to be careless?, she wasnt speeding by all accounts! |
