1178547 2011-02-16 03:38:00 I could see the reasoning if it was the English MP's as new cars in England don't need a WOF until they are 3 years old gary67 (56)
1178548 2011-02-16 19:38:00 I can sort of relate to the the thread .
There are people out there who rough it and there's not much you can do about it .

When I was 6yrs old, parents didn't come home till 10 . 30pm everyday apart from Christmas Day .

Me and the bro walked home after school, don't think they gave homework then, and ate biscuits until mum came home earlier at 9 . 00pm by using the bus and brought back dinner .

We changed schools, which was closer to their work . We ate and came home on the bus so we could do our homework and sleep earlier . Microwaves were cheaper then so we could heat supper up as well .

Still within primary school we were tall enough so we did the laundry .

When we started high school, we were in walking distance . We cooked for ourselves and did the dishes .

We didn't have Birthday or Christmas presents . Occasionally we were given $8 each and we went to the shops for several hours deciding on a toy . Apart from the Central CBD, we never travelled out of the suburb . Every 5yrs or so we went overseas during Christmas to visit family and maybe once a year or 2yrs we get invited to a wedding which might be outside of our city . In the weekends we spent the day with the cousins (and the grandparents) . Christmas holidays was the same and me and the bro went to the nearby school grounds to hit a ball around with the brickwall .

I remembered that when we had Muffdy Day, I always got nervous because we didn't had cool clothes and during High School when we had the work experience week, I had to borrow clothes from my cousin .

Building up debt is a recipee for disaster.
If, at the end of a week your debt is higher than the start of the week, then you should stop and see what needs to change.

They dug their own graves. And now that they're 6 feet under they're now starting to worry?

Sure, they've had some bad luck. But they've also made some bad decisions in order to prop up a lifestyle they could not support.

On the other hand, average hard working kiwis will ultimately be paying for this, when this family defaults on their loans it will become one more unsecured amount that a finance company cannot recover... pushing the company closer to collapse, with more kiwi investors losing out to bludgers who were careless with cash and living beyond their means.

Excellent idea. MPs could then mix with the public and hear about what happens in the real world.
