| 1210184 | 2011-06-18 02:52:00 | I am planning on buying either Samsung GT 10.1 16GB or 32GB and just wanted to know what is a typical HD movie size in GB. This will give me an idea how many i cant fit in one of the Tabs. I dont plan on keeping too many maybe 2 -3 and only uploading to my tab when i am flying/travelling Also like to know what is DVD quality movie typical size ? I think the tab supports MPEG4, H.263, H.264, DivX, XviD formats etc so i'd like to if someone has converted movies to this format and what the typical size was in these formats. I am not too fussed about quality dropping when converting to diff formats as long as its not crap. |

It also doesn't have any way to connect to a big screen TV so again no point having full HD rips. And finally it has no upgradeable memory slot - so no ability to swap over memory cards with different data on them - in fact get used to whatever storage size the tab you buy is because you are stuck with it. This looks like a great tab and was on my final three list but for the reasons above I went for the Acer Iconia A500 and it's great. It has HDMI and a memory card slot which were no brainer for me (and you can pick it up for under $700). |

I was more interested in getting some info on typical video file size and to go whether for 16GB or 32GB hence my question on that. And If I ever decide to output using HDMI or plug in SD card, I CAN actually do that...just not using native connection but using the proprietory connector that goes into Samsung slot. Most people are misinformed and simply say it cant be done. But anyways my decisions to buy was its portability/performance. Its build quality is up to par with iPad 2 but its way too sexier and ultralight. I went and picked one up played with and its WOW factor was just like what i experienced when i moved from PC to laptop years ago Makes Zoom/Iconia/Blackberry playbook feel like a bric. In my opinion Galaxy Tab 10.1 is simply the best Android Tablet out there today...not to mention its just so svelte But we have diff preferences/needs...hence our diff choices. |

That info was helpful on file size |

| 1210189 | 2011-06-18 04:58:00 | Is it released here yet? If not, any ideas when it will be? Edit: It doesn't have microSD... What a bummer. Might just be a good enough excuse to wait for NVIDIA quad cores to hit the market. |

I'd be surprised to see anything Kal-El based before October, and well worth the wait if you need the performance and don't need it now, but the Tegra250 is pretty solid, esp the newer core such as the Eee Pad Transformer uses. As for the GT 10.1, I think there's some parallell-imported versions available locally for about $1k (ouch! Asus/Acer offerings start from about $800) but I don't think it officially lands for another month. |

| 1210192 | 2011-06-18 07:48:00 | Try VLC maybe? There are probably many more out there better suit for the job though. |

| 1210193 | 2011-06-18 08:08:00 | ok thanks. And i know GT 10.1 released in US today and will follow up with launch in Europe in 1-2 months. It should be releasing in NZ/Aust in Sept/Oct. I was watching a TV interview the other day and it was hinted delays were due to Japan earthquake creating constraints on component supply chain....plus the fact they had to rush back to drawing board to redo 10.1 after iPad 2 came out |
