Currently have Intel E8400 Core 2 Duo 3.0GHz, looking to upgrade, i normally use my pc for, bit of photoshop, Handbrake for some video converting, online games like counter-strike, half-life, COD. Anyone have one of these cpus? Any feedback is appreciated.

1210909 2011-06-21 05:27:00 Well what mobo have you got?? If its a 775 neither of those will work. You'll have to replace the mobo. I take it you're making another PC up? Speedy Gonzales (78)
1210910 2011-06-21 05:29:00 yup, once i decide on the cpu than will get the motherboard and RAM. Will still use my current video card, Nvidia 9600GT, and 500W PSU. And reuse all my sata drives as well. ronyville (10611)
1210911 2011-06-21 05:32:00 Think there were problems with some Sandybridge ... not sure which ones but there is a thread on the forum somewhere about them. SP8's (9836)
1210912 2011-06-21 05:33:00 Just as long as it says B3 revised, it should be fine. That was the mobo, not the CPU Speedy Gonzales (78)

1210916 2011-06-21 09:33:00 thanks for all your input, i5 it is. have decided to go with this GIGABYTE HA65M-UD3H-B3 (www.pbtech.co.nz) for my mobo. ronyville (10611)
1210917 2011-06-21 23:54:00 good choice i5 walks all over current gen Phenom's
After my troubles building a SB on a gigabyte board I recommend checking the RAM is compatible, mine has to be overvolted slighty to run stable.
