1210637 2011-06-20 00:23:00 hi all,

just wondering, will i need a new power supply or is 650W enough to power the ati 6970 monster card?

system specs:

650W psu
mobo: gigabyte 880-GA-UDH3
cpu: amd phenom 2 X2 555BE **unlocked to 4 cores, overclocked to approx 3.6GHz**
DVD: LG 22X
HDD: 500GB WD BLACK 7200rpm
RAM: 2x2GB kingston valueram 1333mhz ddr3
** GPU: slightly oc'd sapphire 6870**
plus about 4 fans, 3 of which sit there looking pretty but dont do alot of spinning (eg dysfunctional)

PS. should i just chuck in an extra 6870 or something? :thanks

I prefer one single card over crossfire with two.

1210641 2011-06-20 03:30:00 If it was me, and it says 550w I'd buy a 650w. pctek (84)

The system requirements for BF3 arent out yet so no one knows. However if this card cant handle it then my 460 is in big trouble..

But if they want to sell lots of copies, they have to make it run on mid range systems.

1210644 2011-06-21 00:51:00 okay ill see if i can get a 6970!!! probably b able to run bf3 at high-ultra... clwsham (16313)
1210645 2011-06-21 01:03:00 "The minium requirements for running battlefield 3 on pc are quite reasonable" "without going into detail, if you have equivalent hardware matching the consoles - not cpu to cpu, but matching output, thats your low spec" "The computer that will be able to run battlefield 3 on full settings has yet to be built". - Patrick (BF3 team)

Btw the demo that was played live to audiences (if you have seen it) was running off a single 580gtx.

As for the last quote about the pc that can run bf3 on high yet to be built, CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!

1210646 2011-06-21 01:14:00 i would imagine that 4 6990s in crossfire would help considerably in your quest for gaming nirvana... clwsham (16313)
