1179817 2011-02-19 21:39:00 Was due to start temping at a local company on Wednesday so rightfully advised WINZ of this on Tuesday - this week just gone.

Have yet to be paid - yet yesterday I received a letter advising that I owe them x amount, and I need to call them as soon as possible to settle how it's going to be paid.

Say WHAT???

Bloody typical of the government - they owe you money and you just have to wait. You owe them and it's WE WANT NOW!!

Anyway, my car repayments will take priority over them - they can get f**ked, or be paid at $5 a week

1179819 2011-02-19 23:06:00 sounds like a mistake, ring them and see what they say.

and, yes you can pay them back at $5 a week.

1179820 2011-02-20 04:13:00 Yeah, well I will be debating the amount as well (well actually SWMBO will be, I have more important things to do - like work)
I knew of half the amount, not sure where the rest came from.

So you think the letter should be delayed by the computer system that automatically generates it to accommodate your lack of desire to pay back money? :illogical

Blaming computers is a cop out, a weak cop out, if their system sucks then they should improve it. It reflects on them.

That said, any interaction with Winz will demonstrate so much that is wrong with our society, top it off with a trip to the court house for the full picture.

Chances are the "clients" at both locations are all from the same gene pool, and the workers are just as smug and deluded.

Very bad idea. What you should have done is told them a few days after you started. They stop your money immediately you know, not to tie in with when you get paid from the new job.

And yep, WINZ and letters of money owing are just like IRD. They can decide you owe money at any time during the rest of your life.

1, I believe they are overcharging me
2, my car (which if I lose puts me back on WINZ's doorstep) is far more important and therefore takes priority
2, the fact there are no figures in this post may confuse you. Sorry bout that
