1179705 2011-02-18 22:20:00 OK - I just read an article about the new Beta Chrome v: 10 . 0 . 648 . 82

here: . zdnet . com/blog/hardware/google-chrome-10-beta-faster-javascript-gpu-acceleration-and-more/11472?tag=nl . e539" target="_blank">www . zdnet . com

If you read this - is says there's a 66% performance advantage for using it .

Ok --- that's questionable but fair reporting and all --- but it leaves me somewhat mystified about one or two niggling points:

Since Chrome uses the IE and Windows Exploder global settings, isn't Chrome then actually running two platforms at the same time or something like that?

I mean - if Chrome has to access the settings in IE - then how can it be faster or better than IE or Firefox/Google?

There must be a lot of cross-talk between Chrome and IE/WE if it has to ask of/refer to/keep a parity pipe running with the master (in this case Internet Settings and Security/Hosts files - etc) for it's permissions - right?

Sounds like the long way around to me .

1179707 2011-02-19 00:39:00 Chrome only uses your systems settings for proxies. Chilling_Silence (9)

Can you enlighten me about this concern?

Interested in hearing all I can about Chrome

1179712 2011-02-19 19:17:00 Yeah I'm curious to hear how this "by stealth" works.

To install it I've still had to go to the website, click Install, agree to T&Cs / EULA whatever, click next and THEN it starts installing. No stealth anywhere.

1179713 2011-02-19 21:06:00 You guys are sounding like a bunch of tin foil hat wearing nannas, its alright, I doubt chrome will ever install by stealth, chromes pretty good, it uses things like your favourites on IE but they would be installed on your cookies folder etc rob_on_guitar (4196)
1179714 2011-02-21 05:15:00 By stealth means that I updated Google Earth and suddenly there it was on my desk-top along with the google toolbar on I.E.

I didn't ask for it, I didn't get any choice to install it or not
