well i got it fixed and since then it has leaked . . . and now it leaks that much one can have a cold shower without turning the shower on!

i have yet to attack the mixer but was wondering if anyone has had experience in whether replacing parts or replacing all inside water fixture / pipe is a better option? cost is an issue, but as last time i ended up chickening out and got the plumber, i am dishearted with the plumber as it needs fixing again and has since about a week after they left . . . . . . . . :(

i put a new shower head on it a while back cos i just hated the old one, so i have done a wee bit of it diy . but have been told anything in the wll i need a plumber?

and another stupid question, are the pipes that come into a vanity all the same size? can i go buy some stoppers? for them while i rip out the vanity and put new one in?

thanks all,

help

Why didn't you get them back as soon as you noticed it leaking?
Surely they didn't fix it if it needed a fixing a week later.

1179511 2011-02-18 05:09:00 LOl i have called and i have seen the plumbers in person and am still waiting . . . . . . . they fixed it twice on the day cos they stuffed the first install of the part they put in . . . . . .

the last time i talked to them was 2 weeks ago . . . . . . . . in person .

nearly every month i have talked to them or rung them . . . . . . . . . so now i cant be bothered . . . . . . and am going to try it myself . . . . . .

yeah i mita been a bit slow, but life in general round here has been over the top so much its always put on the last thing to do list for ages . . . .

i have had 2 vanitys sitting in the shed waiting all this time too, but i havent got a replacment shower yet . . . . . . . . ( 2 seperate bathrooms) the vanitys ready to go in, and then slowly do the rest bit by bit . . . limited budget, and just me as the breadwinner, who has a unstable job situation at the moment and for the last few months . . . . . . which has not helped .

so yeah:(

I would like to help but I'm not where you are unfortunately.

I can't afford the petrol to help you and I'm not a plumber either for that matter which means assuming I do get get down there I'd be about as useful as tits on a bull.

Ignoring problems will not make them go away in my experience. Fixing said problems yourself may create more problems or not as the case may be.

It depends.

1179514 2011-02-18 09:33:00 Its ok, i guess it comes donw to . . . . i have a problem, i have to fix it . . . . . . . . . by whatever means . . . . . . . . . . . life just doesnt seem to give me more friends with hidden talents of plumbing . . . . . . . .

thers so many ostrichs with the head in the sand around me, id really like it to be me sometimes . . . . . . . . .
i know it doesnt get better by itself . . . . . . . its just i do no my limits and im not sure i should push this one or not . . . . . .

1179516 2011-02-18 20:22:00 Yeah and i made a mistake trusting a real paid person who was trained for the job .
I making a hell of a lotta mistakes lately . . . . . . . . . . . . Life is not easy and i never said it was, but being a single female parent on limited inome just trying to keep food on the table, petrol in the car, and getting to work, while somewhere in there being a mum and enjoying my kids, the house and its problems comes way down the list of priorities . . . . . . . .

I was scared, cos its a new thing and im scared i would stuff it up, but as the plumber already did, i had no idea, cos if he couldnt get it rite how would little old me get it done and fixed? especially with the lack of budget and not knowing anything about showers and plumbing . . . .

so yeah ive learnt . . . . . . . . dont bother anymore let this die . . . . . . . sometimes we just need help and sometimes we just arnt ready for it . . . . . . . . i wasnt then, but i am now . . . but its too late . . . . . . and yeah i learnt . :badpc:

Thanks all, see ya .

1179517 2011-03-01 11:20:00 Ok . . . . . . . . . . . . . back to this thing . . . . . . . .

got a complete new pipe thingy . . . . . . . . . :p and its in working not leaking from its bits . . . . . . . . but sometimes it still drips . . . . . . . . . . . im wondering if it has crap in the line . . . lime or something, cos it doesnt always drip . return it on and stop it, like flushing it and it stops . . . . . . . . . . . but its a 300% better even if it does occasionally drip . . . . . . . .

while i was in the bathroom ripped out the last rotten vanity, pipe off the hot . cold . and found some fantastic flowery wallpaper, and 3 different levels / layers of lino . . . . . . . . sigh, and the wall cover thing, the waterproof thing . name eludes me at the moment . . . . . . . . fell off the wall . . . . . . . . hadnt even touched it . . . . . . . . so got to re glue that with something . . . . . . . .

but the bathroom is drying out nicely now, and i have much more space . . . . . . .

all i need now is some knowledge on putting vanities in . . . . . . . . . . .

kidding . . . . . . . . . not ready yet . . . . . . . got to fix the wall first . . . .

thanks to all who helped, with time and knowledge . . . . . . . .
