| 1179370 | 2011-02-17 22:44:00 | Looking at getting MySky at home, we already have standard Sky installed, but Sky want to charge a $50 installation fee. What would that be for? Plugging it in? Seems unnecessary. | wratterus (105) | ||

This was before Prime was on Freeview. We wanted a Prime only install from Sky and told them that the dish is there and is working, can I just pick up the decoder from the local Sky office? No they said and we got charged $150! for the tech to come and basically drop off the decoder. And then about 3 months later Prime came on Freeview so I had a go at Sky to get a refund but they again said no. :( |

There is often work that has to be done even though you already have a dish. They installed a new dual LNB (dish receiver thingy) in mine and brought two cables into the MySky. |

Seems unnecessary . Under warranty procedures, if it was just a lose cable you do get charged $50 or $100 or whatever that is . If it wasn't cable and something sinister with the dish and they had to fix, then it is free . For connection, maybe wait for a free installation with their specials . . . |

| 1179377 | 2011-02-17 23:59:00 | Cheers guys, that was basically my thought, I just wanted to know in case they did some alingment voodoo with dish or some such thing that I'd have no idea about. I'm more than capable of running some new Sky grade RG6 though, if that's what they want. Look like I overestimated them. :D We'll wait for a promo. Or maybe just pay the $600 up front, pretty sure they don't charge any installation then. |
