1180450 2011-02-22 02:29:00 Just saw this on the news here at my place - had the TV off all day with snow knocking out our satellite dish .

Hopefully everyone is OK - youse guys have had all the EQs allowed for the year - please stop now .

At least the weather's nice - right? No snow or rain?

Be safe and everyone be careful - we saw the cathedral that got dropped .

It's about 630PM our time and as I see it this EQ was about 2 hours ago .

1180452 2011-02-22 02:32:00 I'm still stunned and the pictures are awful of central Christchurch, we can only hope now the death toll isn't too high. It was a relief to talk to my son to hear they are fine out at the Uni except the power is off. Unfortunately I know others here at work that know people are in buildings that are damaged, so we all hope that they get as many people out alive as possible. Twelvevolts (5457)

1180454 2011-02-22 02:43:00 TV3 is starting to become distasteful.

What did you expect? No time to edit the videos.

1180455 2011-02-22 02:45:00 When has it not been? Try TV One

TV3s coverage is dreadful. Their cameramen and reporters are filming badly injured people, and I saw an injured person tell them off for filming them. They are also going onto dangerous areas to film rescues. TVNZs coverage is ad least edited, if not constantly repeated. I don't think we need to see any more than what TVNZ is reporting, we should give christchurch people their privacy.

That is no excuse, because TVNZ are editing and making it slightly delayed. Filming injured people is not on.

This is what i call breaking news and i am very interested in what is going on down there. They have cameras on the scene minutes after the event, besides dust...

Yes but it isn't live, it is edited.

There is however a difference when it is live coverage of a local event, and you haven't got permission from the injured party to film them. I am not sure if there are laws against this. If I was injured and filmed by them, I would not be happy at all.
