Sort of. This is a "save face" exercise for both parties. Harawira's out without being expelled, and can more or less operate with the Maori Party's backing. As long as he behaves himself.

1180303 2011-02-25 08:07:00 Maurice Williamson told an amusing story about Maori claims for lost lands a few years ago.

He was a member of a parliamentary committee that was meeting some of the Tangata Whenua concerning grievances.

When thae agrieved claimants had finished spouting their grievances and claims, he asked " How, on what basis did your ancestors obtain ownership of the land in dispute?

The answer was " By right of conquest"

To which the reply was " we rest our case"

This whole blody nonsense has been going on too long, it is high time someone had the balls to say, you have done very well out of European settlement of New Zealand, you have been more than compensated, enough is enough, time for everyone top start living as a single country and all be New Zealanders.

And while we are about it, it's high time for those maoris who have a king sized chip on their shoulder, to put it all behind them, start taking responsibility for their own lives, welfare and social advancement, like the rest of us have to, and start asking what can I do for this country, not what can I take from it.

1180306 2011-02-25 08:57:00 There was no war between all maori and Pakeha which resulted in what could be called a conquest.
The Waitangi Treaty, which is the current basis of settlements, was signed before the so-called Maori Wars.

Which is a pity, we should have sorted then.

Using the Tasmanian solution.
