Meats are cut into strips for stirfrys or a piece of salmon steak/fillet (400g maybe) steamed with various herbs is shared amongst 4 people. Liver/kidney and hearts are good too. We only get stuff on special. You can also go to more wholesalers to get a whole fish but you need to maybe split the fish into 2 days for the family and clean and scale the fish..... (cheaper than getting non special fish items at the supermarket). We also use a lot mince in like ravioli dishes, rissoles, filing into capsicum cases. You can also steam egg with half part water, oil + seasoning with mince or flakes of canned fish or fresh fish. Or have half the eggs with salty eggs - that is you have raw egg (with the shell) and put into a jar with v salty water to preserve. With eggs alone, cover with a dish when you steam so you get a v smooth velvety texture. We also use non-strong flavour white fleesh fish like hoki or ling to make congee. We have the odd grilled meats or roast perhaps once a month. |

| 1179413 | 2011-02-19 03:41:00 | After every trip between Invercargill and Gore I have to clean dead insects off the windscreen. This gets worse as there are more and more dairy cows polluting the land. Fonterra's dairy factory at Edendale is getting bigger and bigger as is the price of their milk. Insects? I used to have to clean cow **** off my car. Kicked up off the road from the filthy stock trucks. In fact try being behind one - sprayed all over the bonnet and windscreen. Not to mention the rivers now, the dirty filthy Matuara. Still. I love my cheese. |

| 1179414 | 2011-02-19 03:53:00 | The other day, on TV3, a farmer said they were paid 68 cents/litre from Fonterra. This morning on radio a Federated Farmers man blamed the high prices on the "middle men". Just who are the middle men between Fonterra and the supermarkets, bearing in mind that Fonterra is owned by the farmers. We really need a comprehensive price breakdown / profit take for every stage from farmer to consumer, with no nonsense about commercial confidentiality. |

Be fair Terr, how can my mate pay $42k for a gun if you start looking at excess profit? |

Yes I always keep my distance from stock trucks. You do not see many stock trucks being tailgated. |
