A Japanese teacher managed to send an email to family back home while buried under rubble in the CTV building.

I'll buy whatever laptop she was using.

1180503 2011-02-22 19:17:00 i was listening to newstalkzb early this morning, and this lady rang up saying one of her grandsons was killed in the quake.

the way she held it together was amazing, its just tragic for anyone to have to go through.

another thing is that the news stations haven't sensationalized it at all, i suppose the fact that there are dead numbs you.

just a horrible situation for Christchurch and us all

1180506 2011-02-22 21:26:00 Good to hear that those of you in Christchurch are okay. I kind of agree with you Wolf - it might seem ghoulish but those reporters are out there doing an important job. The public needs to see how bad it really is, and that includes documenting the worst parts.

Remember it's hard on the reporters too, but I don't doubt they are truly trying to do the best job they can and get as much information to the public as possible. Most journalists really do think they are doing what's best in these situations - most get into the line of work to help people and make a difference in the world, truly. You might not agree with them but they will be doing what they think is right.

1180509 2011-02-22 22:49:00 It looks like it's really bad.

I was watching TV3 nightline at around 10pm last night, and the male (can't remember his name) was just about crying, i could even see a few tears on his face. He kept on looking down silently.

R.I.P Christchurch
