| 1211505 | 2011-06-23 22:04:00 | This morning when I turned my PC on Windows 7 will not startup for unknown reasons and went to do a startup repair but failed to do so as it says it cannot repair the problem. There was nothing installed the night before it was shut down, hardware nor software, so I was a little concerned that perhaps my SSD was failing. Anyway, I have heard of cases where USB storage devices can prevent startups. My brother's 16GB USB stick was attached, so I tried pulling it out, turned the computer back on and voila! Windows started up without a hitch! Question is, why did that happen? Why did the 16GB USB stick prevent Windows from starting up? Thanks! |

| 1211506 | 2011-06-23 22:18:00 | The BIOS on your PC is probably set to boot from USB devices before any other devices such as hard drives, so the PC tried to boot from the USB stick and stopped there. You can usually change the order of boot devices. Same thing used to happen when you left a floppy disk in the floppy drive years ago :D |
