| 1181242 | 2011-02-24 21:47:00 | Just received a new 'hybrid' version of the email the Commerce Commission are warning of. The new one has Christchurch spelt correctly and looks too legit and guaranteed to sucker many. The CC head officeis based in ChCh therefore dont expect them to act on this matter. The url link the email refers to is WARNING SCAM Site Follows: 85-125-174-146.raaba.xdsl-line.inode.at Any IT people out there who can identify the web host so we can publicise on blogs and send abuse reports? Strewth I hate these people who do this!! |

I really find it hard to believe that some people are so heartless that they take advantage of a horrifying situation like the Christchurch quake for personnel financial gain. These people should be tracked down, locked up & the key thrown away! They're worse than gang members. |

| 1181247 | 2011-02-24 22:34:00 | This type of site is one of the reasons I use the Ultimate Chrome Flag extension in Chrome and the Flagfox addon in FF - makes it very easy to see which country the site is being hosted in, which gives you an idea as to it's authenticity. The site that PeteS links to in his post shows the Austrian flag in the Browser Address bar, confirmed by wainuitech's IP lookup. |

The Bank Account number is supposed to be a ASB number though I note that the donation page where they want you to enter your credit card details is not a https link |
