1182053 2011-03-04 05:47:00 Chucked out the last one yesterday (but a new one arrived today!) I loathe and despise DVDs, and have loaded the last couple of years onto a hard drive. Much easier to browse when looking for something, and if the drive fails, tough.

Mmmmm...Loathe and despise eh? Strong emotions for a poor little DvD. Still, it's a valid opinion, honestly if forcefully expressed :D I like them because I can go back years and find all sorts of useful stuff, and I don't have to clutter my HDD up with files I may never use.

The big problem is knowing which CD/DvD has what. Has there ever been a compilation/index of their content?

Cheers

Yeah, it was a bit strong - but the comment applied to the DVD, not what the DVD contains. A disc that would read last year (or last month) won't be recognised today. If you're lucky and have several DVD drives available, you might find one that condescends to accept the disc, maybe on the fourth or fifth attempt.

These days hard disc capacity is so cheap that the convenience of quick reference more than compensates for the storage space used. And DVDs take up a fair amount of physical space anyway. Time to bury the 20th century.

I remember the 'up to 02' version, and I think I have a copy of that file around somewhere, but don't recall the 04. To be truthful I didn't realise at the time that it was a collaborative effort or I might have paid more attention.
