Sensing Murder television psychic Deb Webber claims she predicted the Christchurch earthquake - and says it won't be the last of the devastation.

Webber told the Herald on Sunday this week that she had known of the Christchurch earthquake for at least a year - the only reason she hadn't put it on her Facebook page was for fear of provoking mass hysteria.

1182348 2011-03-05 18:31:00 All this belief everywhere...."I believe the sun....." "I believe the moon......."etc. belief belongs to faith and religion, belief in gods and deities, it has no place in science.

Propose a hypothesis, and then test it against observation.
OK, brb, testing my hypothesis with all the money that and knowledge that I have.

1182349 2011-03-05 21:02:00 I really do liken this to a religious thing the way you are caring on.

I enjoy science and as a result you come across a lot of pseudo-science as well.

This is a good video to explain open-mindedness (www.youtube.com)for those who think it means accepting every claim anyone makes.

I think your post "You just believe what you want to" was pertinent to the way you think. That's not scientific however, and certainly the opposite of critical thinking.

So I don't believe the Earth is about to destroyed by a solar flare because there is no evidence to back Mr Ring's theory.

Deb Webber appeared on a Channel 7 programme in 2004 and talked with dead relatives who had never actually existed. I think we can safely discount that she has any ability to predict anything. So even though the Herald devoted a whole article to this, she herself finished by saying she doesn't do predictions. She even got that wrong, she makes them all the time but they are worthless.

You would have to wonder why, if her reason she hadn't put her prediction on facebook was for fear of provoking mass hysteria, after the event she then goes on to state that it won't be the last of the devastation .

Maybe she wants a bob each way .

1182353 2011-03-06 02:58:00 Well I also have an open mind on Ken Rings theories .

Some people on here seem to have no understanding of the effect of that the relationship between the Moon and the Sun has on this earth .

NASA launch space craft into orbit, and have to the moon etc . If you get the calculations even slightly wrong you will end up millions of miles out from hitting the moon or reaching a stable orbit .

My point is scientists do know VERY well the moons and suns forces that act on the earth . There is no mystery or "magical" forces we dont know about .

The effect of the moon/suns gravitation pull on the tectonic plates is tiny compared to the MASSIVE energy that is the earth's core . Its something like throwing pebbles at a freight train, no one is denning the pebbles will hit the train its just not going to do anything .

Ken Ring is scaring people, his mumbo jumbo is mixed in with confirmed science and seems plausible to the naive .

There is enough information googlable if you take the time to learn and you can apply your own logic . If you cant be bothered dont make it worse by naïvely backing Ken Ring .

If it makes you feel happy.
Not so long ago they discovered something they hadn't known about before ( I tried to find the article) so what makes you think there won't be others.
