1463957 2019-09-22 23:15:00 Was looking through the wifi list at my location & found one without a padlock called "CORUSCONFIG"
I am assuming it may have something to do with the guys putting in the fibre ??

1463958 2019-09-23 00:08:00 Maybe but anyone can name their WiFi net anything they like so it could be anybody. In the meantime you could log on and help yourself to free wifi. CliveM (6007)

- legal issues
- moral issues : stealing off your neighbors (it may be the neighbors wifi )
- security issues : you dont know where or what that internet data is being funneled through .
- You are logging onto an unknown network, so the 'owner' might start trying to hack into your laptop
- speed issues, being some distance away , chances are its not going to be a good wifi connection anyway

1463962 2019-09-23 02:14:00 Fair enough.
I was suprised to find eleven listings showing in a residencial street.
There was also a unsecured wireles printer.
The houses are not very close together either.

All really valid comments.

As an aside a few weeks ago one of my neighbors must have acquired a new TV, I think with build in Chrome Cast. It showed up on my equipment as "Mums TV". It was very tempting to adopt it and start playing, say, a YouTube video on their TV. The moral of that story is if you do get a Chrome Cast as a built in device or for that matter any WiFi gear set it up properly as soon as possible or you leave yourself vulnerable to unexpected problems

1463965 2019-09-23 03:42:00 unsecured Wireless is dangerous, anything can happen.

Many years ago, was at a persons place and the neighbours wireless was unsecure, the lady I was doing the work for called them to warn, but the owner didn't believe it and said nothing to worry about, then asked why the problem - whats the worry. (This was on a speaker Phone) I said would you like me to show you the "problem" -- next thing she went what the F **** her printer had started printing a test page -- As I pointed out the printer was easy - the rest of your computer is easy to get into and internet usage ( if anyone wanted to ). next job - across the road :D

Wide open, a few doors along from the backpackers.
