| 1463686 | 2019-09-15 00:55:00 | Yes true, though I wouldn't exactly say..... Not a good look for a site that's supposed to be helping people fix their computers. The help given is driven by the forum community not IDG (or whoever owns the PCWORLD domain) - a lot of what happens (administration of the forum etc.) is again done by some of our more "seasoned" forum members... I recall some time back there was talk of shutting the forum down but it wasn't because of how active the community was... and PCWorld NZ back then kept it going as they realized it would be "damaging" I guess if they killed the site. The forum is not specifically here to "help people fix their computers" but more a place where like-minded computer enthusiasts can come and share their experiences (and ask for help of course) with every day computer problems. Yes there are many IT Pros who are members such as Wainui and myself but the bulk of our community members are just every day folks who come here because they know they'll get good advice rather than getting shafted by some techno-geek at a computer store... The reason I posted was because I don't want to see the forum close, it has been fantastic since I joined nearly 15 years ago... |

More than likely no reason why its back, but I suspect if they keep getting requests to fix it they will keep it going. Chiefnz is correct, its a community that you can (within reason) ask anything, not just a computer forum. I know there's geekzone but personally I find it having to many choices / subjects. Here there's basically two, help and chat. Nice and tidy :) |

On the page that poped up, there was a link to email them ( not from the main PCWorld site) when doing so , within a few seconds got two auto replies stating the person ( two different) {the persons name} has left IDG Communications Please direct all online and web queries to { other contact name} So I did :) This was on a Saturday so wasn't expecting a reply for a few days anyway. BUT if someone has solved the problem at IDG-- Thanks :) |
