1463416 2019-08-31 03:47:00 We put some stale bread out for the birds and the sparrows are loving it - until the cat saw what was going on.

A flurry of wings as she told them where to go and now she is sitting not too far away from the bread waiting to see who is game to return. So far no takers. They can see her from their perch in the nearby tree so it's going to be slim pickings for this Queen this afternoon. :annoyed:

The birds here have learned Hoover is useless at catching them, and boldly hop up onto the deck and nibble at his cat snack crumbs. He makes pitiful noises at them but has yet to catch one.

He has managed several beetles and one mouse though, so he is improving.

1463418 2019-09-03 04:41:00 At yet they claim all cats are super efficient bird killers & should be all be banned .

My cat has only caught 1 bird so far, in 4 years . It doesnt even bother trying when I feed the birds .
Its caught heaps of rats though as they dont fly away. So get rid of cats for the sake of native birds & watch the then growing rat population decimate bird nests .

The lizard population in my section has been wiped out by cats though .

1463419 2019-09-03 05:02:00 We had a cat that was a hopeless bird catcher but one day it proudly brought a bird in and deposited at our feet for congratulations. Wasn't till later in the day that I realised it was one that had got caught in the car grill the day before. Clod (7853)

Cats should not be banned - they make great gloves and extremely warm Davy Crockett hats. They also indicate the best gardeners in the area.

LOL, well it tried.....

There was a website (Don't remember the link so can't provide it) where this guys cat was bringing him prey and he was horrified and ditched them. Then it bought a leaf so it occurred to him to make a fuss over the leaf, oh how nice etc.
After that the cat hunted leaves and bought him one every day.
