1463400 2019-08-30 10:27:00 Just got back from 2 days in AKL for mahi, and each way got an A320 which appeared configured for Int'l duty. They had the IFE and whilst they don't supply headphones, all the goodies worked, such as movies, music etc.

Got a good 40mins of Goodfellas in on the way back tonight - was very impressed. Though it was slightly ruined by the cabin staff and their "I like the sound of my voice" announcements.

Not sure if this is a new configuration for the full domestic fleet, but will have to find out.

I think this configuration is for international flights ... A320R. The 'R' stands for Regional. You just lucked out to be able to travel on a replacement aircraft from the regional pool.

1463402 2019-08-31 01:05:00 That is my take on it. I haven't heard about the domestic fleet being upgraded, and I'm convinced that Air NZ doesn't give flying (pardon the pun) f*ck about domestic customers. allblack (6574)
1463403 2019-08-31 01:30:00 Re upgrading the domestic fleet, here's some info from my post of April 6

Air NZ recently took delivery of it's first A321neo (New Engine Option) aircraft in Hamburg. The aircraft, registration ZK-NNA, is the first of 13 new Airbus neo aircraft (seven A321neos and six A320neos) to join Air New Zealand's fleet and was planned to enter commercial service on 23 November operating flight NZ739 from Auckland to Brisbane.

The new fleet will replace the A320s that currently operate Tasman and Pacific Island services, while a further seven A321neos have also been ordered for the airline's domestic network and are expected to be delivered from 2020 to 2024.

Although the upgrade doesn't necessarily mean more cabin goodies, at least the domestic fleet will be state of the (Airbus) art, with the most efficient grunt generators.

Cheers

:)

I read that elsewhere, BUT I missed the bit about neos joining the domestic fleet.

Being a plane geek I'm envious. I haven't done an ATR yet.

Really? They go to all the small places.....
Small, propellers, noisy.

I didn't mind though.

1463408 2019-08-31 23:26:00 Do they still use them (ATR) on the, ChCh/Wgtn/Napier route and Chch/PalmNorth flights?.

They are very rowdy alright.

lurking.

Yes, we see a lot here in Napier. Having flown a few times in them, they seem to me to have more legroom than a Airbus A320.
