My home PC , intermittently would turn on but not POST ie nothing on screen, numlock light stayed off ( a sign it hasnt POSTed) , fans etc running Each time , I needed to unplug the RAM chips & put them into another slot. Then it would start up OK Next time it happened, I would unplug RAM & put back into original slot. I tried swapping out the RAM , that didnt help. This used to be very intermitent, maybe once every 3 months, but lately could happen a few times a week. On a hunch , I took out the vid card & put a older vid card in . Since replacing the vid card, Ive not had the issue ... but when I had the issue & resolved it by moving RAM from 1 slot to another So whats causing it ? mb, vid card ? |
