1460240 2019-04-29 22:18:00 Went to change the search engine on this system but there is no advanced setting.
Checked my gaming system & it is the same.
Both systems are 1809.
Is this something new?

From the 3 Dots, click, Settings, then on the Left near the top - Advanced.

If advanced is not showing as per the picture, click the arrow that will be facing < and it will show.

1460242 2019-04-30 00:43:00 One subtle difference in Edge is that after you have set your the new choice of search engine in settings Bing will still present it's search bar in the middle of the page. The new search engine you have selected operates by typing your query in the address bar at the top. CliveM (6007)
1460243 2019-04-30 03:22:00 Thanks guys, found it.
Have set the start page, home page and search engine to google.
However, when opening a new tab it still defaults to Bing.
Not that I have a problem with Bing, but would prefer google.

No it does not. If you type your query in the address space the search engine you preselected is used.

Bing does appear lower down on the page but you do not have to use it.

:) MS is trying to con everyone to use Bing but I find Google better for anything that is of local interest.

1460247 2019-04-30 21:53:00 Bing is hopeless, even when searching for MS content I get more relevant results from Google. If I was to use anything else it would be something like Duck Duck Go for the privacy.
It's a large part of why I've ignored cortana, she's gimped by a terrible search engine.
