1460504 2019-05-11 04:19:00 FF was the main choice, but now it has become a prick of a thing to use.

Whether one uses the top or middle entry box , all one gets is addons screen.

lurking.

ps. use Chrome instead now.

1460507 2019-05-11 06:26:00 You need to delete the profile folder if it's corrupt or else it will re-occur again. Revo may do that for you, not sure.

My Firefox back to normal after the add-ons hiccup.

Why not try a portable version which will use a different folder for it's profile to check it's ok for you.

You can have your faulty version, you don't have to uninstall it yet, on the same computer without problems just don't try to run the two of them at the same time.

1460508 2019-05-11 06:37:00 Yeah those bl**dy leftovers.

Have recorded this to FF in their reason "why are you leaving", they may send a cure, yeah right.

1460509 2019-05-11 09:12:00 And perhaps you do get it without ads when you pay.
Of course you can't see it until you do pay.

Look at it from their point of view, no-one bys papers anymore.
Free news on the net means they get their money from where?

Nowhere that I can see, it's why they don't have reporters anymore, just freelance people.
So ads.....
Otherwise they cease to exist and then where do we get news?

This is true.
Although I do question whether or not what they provide is actually news, or, perhaps, if it's anything people should actually read.
The problem with the media is they love focusing on negative events because they get more views... but is it healthy to read about disaster after disaster, death and murder and rape and everything else?
Why not promote positive news stories ahead of the negative, people might find it more enjoyable rather than the usual doom and gloom...

I don't bother with TV, newspapers, because I don't want to hear this constantly or worse, the idiotic celebrity rubbish which has no relevance to anything except the manufactured hype they want you to buy into. Who cares if Britney Spears farted? It's insane.

Not that I'm advocating head-in-the-sand ignorance, because some things are important to know... but I don't want to hear about how many people died in a car crash somewhere every five minutes. It's just meaningless and depressing.

probably because there are more.

Today on Stuff is an article about a cleaner who made an effort and found an expensive lost ring at the airport.
Not depressing....

It's partly why I like online news, you can read the bits you are interested in and skip the other headlines....

1460512 2019-05-11 22:48:00 I think you are missing my point about the portable versions, you can have as many as you like on your main computer although you can only run any one at any time.

When one becomes corrupted, doesn't function as expected you just delete it's folder and go to the copy you have waiting in the background and use the same version but untouched so far although previously tested.

This eliminates a lot of hassle, Firefox runs slower from as flash drive, much better on a separate partition from your main o/s, also think this may help with security as I have never had a virus from the browsers so far.
